Taxpayer money does not pay his salary. The reporter was taking an opportunity to make a point and be an ass (see Michael Moore’s assault on Charlton Heston).
It was not the forum. And if he has an issue with the salary, take it up with who pays the contract, not who receives the pay.

Turns out he was wrong. He brings in $14mil, not $12mil, to the University. Profits are more than 4x’s what he is paid.
